Round 12 – Trade Talk Tuesday

Time for a quick look at some Rookie Trading Opportunities for Round 12.

Many of you are looking to make some major downgrades of players such as Coniglio, Shiel, Magner, Horsley or Morris to cash up in preparation to pounce on Swan, Beams, Watson and the like… but who are your options…?

SAM SHAW – DEF – Adelaide – $104,200
Played 2 games already and averaged 69, with relatively good job security and should play the next few weeks at least.

SAM DOCHERTY – DEF/MID – Brisbane – $130,200
Awesome running back flanker, with 28 disposals in a recent NEAFL match, but can he break into a Lions team that includes Golby, Drummond, Adcock and Hanley.

SAM GIBSON – MID – NorthMelbourne – $85,800
Gun midfielder, captain and best and fairest winner for VFL team in 2011, top3 in league for disposals(avg 28) and marks plus 4tackles per game with 14 goals. Averaging 109DT points so far in 2012. If he is picked by North… he is picked by You.

TOM MITCHELL – MID – Sydney – $98,700
Father son pick and super midfielder in the making, scoring 133 and 105 DT points in recent NEAFL games, but nasty rumours of needing more development time.

ELLIOTT KAVANAGH – MID – Essendon -$98,700
A few hammy niggles have held him back, and the Bombers gun midfield might continue to, but this future star inside and outside midfielder should follow in Heppell’s footsteps when he gets a go.

STEPHEN CLIFTON – MID – GWS – $121,800
Strong bodied inside midfielder, returning from injury and will certainly play in the 2nd half of the season.

TOM COUCH – MID/FWD – Melbourne – $85,800
The guy is a gun. Mature age, elevated to senior list, averaging over 20disposals in VFL… and despite Melbourne being shithouse, he still cant get in the team. Might be his kicking efficiency, or maybe Neeld doesnt want Magner and Couch in the same team. Eventually he has to play.

JON PATTON – FWD – GWS – $179,700
#1 Draft Pick for the GWS, reflected by his price. Returning from knee surgery but ready to debut. Key forwards dont usually dominate from the get go but there is little doubt he will play the rest of the season.
